Nokia has finally announced the arrival of its latest flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone, known as the Nokia Lumia 920. Available on May 16 from Verizon Wireless for $100 on contract, the Lumia 920 brandishes what the company calls PureView imaging technology with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). According to Nokia, this is powerful enough to make it easy to capture blur-free pictures and videos even in low-light. Topping it all up is a Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash.

Unless you start thinking that we’re describing a digital camera instead of a smartphone, we might as well tell you about the Nokia Lumia’s other features. There’s a 4.5-inch OLED display covered by Gorilla Glass that extends all the way to the edge of the phone. According to Nokia, reading text on the Lumia 920 is still possible even in bright sunlight while its touchscreen feature is responsive enough even if your fingertips are all covered up.

The phone can also be charged wirelessly by simply placing it on the Nokia Wireless Charging Pillow or other wireless charging accessories available in the market.

Another stand out feature of the Lumia 920 is its ability to capture high-end, distortion free audio even in noisy environment. This is made possible by what Nokia describes as three high-audio-amplitude-capture microphones.

On the software side, the Nokia Lumia 928 comes installed with the HERE Suite if apps which include HERE Maps, HERE Drive+ and HERE City Lens which are all location-based apps for helping you navigate in and out of an area.

For entertainment, there’s Nokia Music with its offer of unlimited streaming of music playlist. And of course you can always grab more apps from the Windows Phone Store. For mobile browsing which most of us normally do on our smartphone, there’s Internet Explorer 10 and Microsoft Office mobile integration for your mobile computing needs.

Nokia says that the Lumia 920 will be available on May 16 from Verizon Wireless for $99 on contract. Nokia is also giving out a $25 credit which you can use to grabs some Windows Phone apps and games when you buy the phone. That is of course if you’re seriously considering in getting this Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
