Business Cards Info attempts to do what so many other iPhone apps have tried to do before: make a cluttered wallet or Rolodex filled with business cards a thing of the past. In addition, users can introduce themselves and their businesses to the world by posting a card of their own online where others can see it.
On top of all this, Business Cards Info (BCI) further facilitates the process of finding the card you need with a robust search function, augmented by an interactive map to help you visualize the locations of your business contacts.
Under card details, you can list a whole ton of information, from a person’s name and contact info to their company name and business sector. While it is nice that you can upload a person’s photo, it’s very sad that there’s no section for personalized notes.
It would be good if you could take notes about where you meet a certain contact, or jot down any secret intel about their likes and dislikes to use for when you meet with them and need to strike up a conversation.
The interface for Business Cards Info feels a bit clunky. It’s serviceable enough, but still a bit unwieldy. I wish there was a way to take a picture of your card, and have the camera recognize and import the text into the proper place. And as a business app, not being able to import contacts from LinkedIn seems like a bit of a missed opportunity.
Still, if you need a better way to organize your business cards (particularly after a long conference where you made a ton of new contacts), Business Cards Info could be just the thing you’re looking for…especially given the price tag.
