Which fruit juice is healthiest for your body?

If we consider fresh juice and juices packed in bottles in comparison then there’s a very little difference in them. Here, in this article we will discuss what slightest difference they have and how different fruit juices can benefit your body.

The Freshly squeezed juice usually contains slightly more vitamin C than juice from a carton or bottle. This happens because the vitamins are sensitive to light and air, fresh juices therefore contain it more and it is preferred for you to consume it as soon as possible after preparation.

‘Refrigerated’ can be made from concentrate or fresh juice, but is not pasteurized. The taste is most like freshly squeezed juice. Chilled juices are kept in the refrigerator.

Purely pressed fruit juice is pasteurized to remove any micro-organisms from the juice and the product has a longer shelf life. Pasteurization does not affect the nutrients or the taste. No sugars may be added to pure fruit juice.

With juice from concentrate, the water is extracted from the fruit juice, creating a thicker liquid. That is easier to transport, because it does not have to be cooled, for example, and it has a much smaller volume. After transport, it is re-diluted with water and often with other additives and aromas. The vitamins and other healthy substances are largely preserved.

What are fruit Nectars?

Fruit nectars (and other fruit drinks) are obtained by adding water and sugar or artificial sweeteners to the fruit juice. Fruit nectars consist on average of only 25% pure fruit juice. The juice content must be stated on the packaging.
Even though some of these drinks are fortified with, for example, vitamin C, in general they provide less vitamins and minerals than 100% unsweetened fruit juice. They are therefore not a full-fledged alternative to fruit juice and certainly not to a piece of fresh fruit.

Concentrated fruit and vegetable drinks

Most concentrated fruit and vegetable drinks contain a reasonable amount of vitamin C, fiber, folic acid and bioactive compounds. The amount of fiber and vitamin C is higher than in regular fruit and vegetable juices, but lower than in fresh fruit or vegetables.

Which fruit juice contains the most vitamins?

Freshly squeezed juice usually contains slightly more vitamin C than juice from a carton or bottle. With a plastic press you have less vitamin loss than with a metal press. This is because the vitamin oxidizes in a metal press and is lost that way. Since vitamins are sensitive to light and air, you should consume it as soon as possible after preparation.

After opening a bottle or pack of juice, the vitamin C content decreases. For acidic juices, such as orange juice, the vitamin C content decreases by only about 2% per day. Shaking juice can cause more vitamin C to be lost. This is due to the oxygen that gets into the juice through shaking.

Bottles of juice are best kept in the dark, because otherwise the vitamin C content decreases faster. However, the most Vitamin C is found in Orange, grapefruit, and pineapple juices. However, fruit juices such as apple juice and grape juice contain hardly any vitamin C and fiber.
