What are fruit Nectars?

Fruit nectars (and other fruit drinks) are obtained by adding water and sugar or artificial sweeteners to the fruit juice. Fruit nectars consist on average of only 25% pure fruit juice. The juice content must be stated on the packaging.
Even though some of these drinks are fortified with, for example, vitamin C, in general they provide less vitamins and minerals than 100% unsweetened fruit juice. They are therefore not a full-fledged alternative to fruit juice and certainly not to a piece of fresh fruit.

Most concentrated fruit and vegetable drinks contain a reasonable amount of vitamin C, fiber, folic acid and bioactive compounds. The amount of fiber and vitamin C is higher than in regular fruit and vegetable juices, but lower than in fresh fruit or vegetables.
