‘Amazon Student’ Helps Students Buy and Sell School Supplies

Amazon has released an iOS app aimed for students preparing for school. Dubbed ‘Amazon Student’, the electronic commerce company’s latest application allows users to purchase items from their iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Students can also scan barcodes to check and compare individual prices. Of course, the company’s existing iPhone app already does this.

The application’s headline feature? Amazon Student offers a “sell your stuff” option that lets users scan book, DVD, and video game barcodes and find out how much Amazon will offer you in terms of trade-in value. Early adopters will be able to ship their items to Amazon for free and receive a gift card of the same value.

If you’re looking for a way to make your next online purchase a bit more affordable and eBay isn’t exactly your thing, Amazon Student might come in handy. Though, if you’re only dealing with used textbooks and school supplies, it might be better to simply list the items on Craigslist.

Amazon Student is available for free from the iOS App Store.
