Isn’t the iPad mini 3 already thin enough? For any normal person or company, yes, but this is Apple we are talking about. The latest rumors out of Asia indicate the upcoming iPad mini 4 will take more than a design cue or two from its big brother, iPad Air.

Macotakara (Google Translate), which has a habit getting Apple rumors right, claims that the iPad mini 4 will strongly resemble Apple’s full-size iPad Air tablet.

Compared to iPad Air the height and width of a iPad Air 2 are the same and the thickness is 6.1mm. Similar to this, the iPad mini 4 compared to iPad mini 3 is said to have the same height and width and a thickness of 6.1mm.

The current iPad mini 3 is 7.5mm thick — almost obese by Apple standards.

Macotakara goes on to claim the iPad mini 4 will also adopt the iPad Air 2’s widely praised 8MP camera, as well as its laminated display with anti-reflective coating.

That said, the upcoming iPad Air 3, as well as the iPad mini 4 and larger 12-inch iPad pro, will likely come to market powered by Apple’s next-gen A9 chip.

All of that said, it has been rumored, perhaps wished even, given the overwhelming success of Apple’s bigger than bigger 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, the iPad mini 4 could be the last revision of Apple’s smaller tablet…

What’s your take?
