Physics Slots: Virtual Gambling Action for iPhone

Physics Slots iPhone Game Review

Price: Free    Score: 8/10     Category: Games

Physics Slots, developed by Batuhan Akalin, is a free slots game based on faux-physics, rather than digital algorithms. But despite efforts to remain as faithful to the classic slots experience as possible, this app fails to capture the real thrill of this style of gambling.

As someone who tends to gravitate towards slots in real life and pump quarter after quarter into the machine, I was bored with this after only a few minutes of play time. In an attempt to encourage marathon play sessions, you’ll rack up a 100 coin bonus with every two hours of active play, but even incentivizing gaming doesn’t really make the game any more addicting.

However, that’s not to say that it’s all bad news. There are three different progressive slots included in the iPhone game, to simulate the experience of building up a machine until it “gets hot.” There’s also an auto-bet feature, as a well as a fun “Plinko”-style mini game that you get to play after a regular win in the slots portion of the game.

In addition to the plethora of in-app purchases you can make to get more credits or unlock extra features, one of the nice options available to players is the ability to pay 99 cents to get the ads removed. While the ads aren’t that obnoxious, it’s still nice to have an option to nix them.

While Physics Slots may not have the prettiest graphics, coolest sound, or most engaging gameplay, this iPhone game is still worth checking out for its realistic and thoughtful design. It’s not perfect, but for serious slots addicts, it’s worth a try-out.

Physics Slots is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (2nd generation), iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later.
