Spotify Expansion Plans Halted; Indian Fans Angry

Spotify Indian Release

Spotify Indian Release

Spotify is considered as the best music streaming service for quite a lot of reasons. Hey, Apple Music is great in terms of reach and its music collection is massive but its curation techniques just can’t match the level of quality that Spotify provides.

The Swedish company, Spotify Technology S.A is doing its best to expand its reach but its being plagued by issues related to music rights. The news comes amid reports that, Spotify has been doing some exclusives with music creators which appears to have irked large record labels leading to Spotify’s banishment (yet to open) from select regions.

Spotify’s expansion plans

One of the largest market, the company has been trying to tap into is India. The country has seen a huge upping in internet usage post Jio, a network provider which introduced dirt cheap data plans. However, there are tons of music streaming services already in the country, many of them homegrown but many Indians know about the curation techniques of Spotify and that no other service does it better.

The Jio Revolution

Twitteratis have been asking the company the same question [when will the service release in India?] for almost two plus years now, only to be given an ambiguous answer [we’re quickly expanding and we’ll let you know as soon as we release in your country]. It’s not satisfactory but then don’t be disappointed, there are ways of using Spotify in India using VPN applications.

Installing Spotify

Spotify for Android and iOS

On Android, download Spotify APK or Spotify Premium APK which lets you play all songs whereas the regular APK only plays songs in shuffle mode.

On iOS, the process will be a little tricky. Download the app tweakboxapp and search for Spotify++ app in it (download it). During the process, you will be greeted with annoying ads and popups, be sure to close ASAP as they are generally not safe.

In both the cases, you will have to use a VPN service to emulate your USA location. On Android, you can use TurboVPN and on iOS, you can use “FREE VPN” both of which are free. Of course, if you use a premium VPN service, that’s much better.
