iPad 5, iPad mini 2 Coming at Sept 10 Apple Event? [u]

A story so important, a generally reliable source buried the lede. So, Tim Cook is planning a four-hour-long Apple Event for September 10 because that is about how long it would take to introduce the new iPhones and iPads, plus iOS 7. Oh, what the heck, should we add the new Macs just for fun?

According to an unnamed individual quoted by Bloomberg, a news service with a strong though not perfect rumorological record, Apple is planning to introduce not only iOS 7, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, but also new iPads at its Tuesday, September 10 Apple Event.

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, plans to introduce new versions of its phone and tablet at a Sept. 10 event, a person familiar with the matter has said, and the company promised “several more game changers” in the product pipeline as it tries to fend off Samsung and Chinese makers selling cheaper handsets.

Because Apple is all about competing at the low-end.

Apple Event + Kitchen Sink

Last year’s new iPhone + iOS 6 Apple Event went on for about two hours. This year’s edition is expected to include not one (iPhone 5S) but two (iPhone 5C) new smartphones, as well as iOS 7, which is a major, top-to-bottom rewrite of Apple’s mobile operating system.

And, by the way, Bloomberg mentions in the middle of a paragraph in a story about something else (i.e. a new Apple Store opening in Japan) that Apple is also going to announce its new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 at the same event?

[u] Bloomberg has removed reference to the iPad reveal from the article and, most importantly, Jim Dalrymple has said “nope” to the idea — it’s now dead.

Yeah, although one should never discount Apple’s ability to surprise and delight, this idea is just plain loopy [and now dead]…

What’s your take?
