Rock Band by EA has always been the other arcade-rhythm powerhouse – never enjoying quite the same popularity as Activision’s blockbuster Guitar Hero. EA Mobile is hoping to change that with their new release, Rock Band Reloaded.

Rock Band Reloaded launched yesterday for iPhone ($4.99) and iPad ($9.99), with all-new tracks and a brand new “5th way to play”. Rock Band has always differentiated itself from the likes of Guitar Hero by offering more than just lead guitar – with bass, drums and tap vocals. The latest Rock Band now offers users the ability to actually sing, utilizing new voice recognition features.

The game comes with up 20 free songs from the likes of artists such as Vampire Weekend, 3 Doors Down, Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Duran Duran, with other free downloads available in the EA Music Store.

The iPad version offers head-to-head multiplayer experience and HD graphics, as well as a “big drums” feature, but it might be hard for some fans to justify the $5 price premium over the iPhone version.

Rock Band Reloaded is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
