A rumor out of France indicates that the Gold Apple Watch, the most desirable version of Tim Cook's first product, will see for at least $4,000…

If you have to ask, you can’t afford it. A fresh rumor out of France indicates that the first truly new product of the Tim Cook, whether you choose pink gold or yellow gold, will sell for at least $4,000. Maybe the stainless version is more to your liking? You might need to think different.

We know this rumor comes from France, because it’s covered with cheese and chopped liver fingerprints.

While the mothership says, the plain jane “sport” Apple Watch will start at $349, iGen.fr (Google Translation) claims to have inside scoop on gold Apple Watch pricing:

Apple Watch Stainless Steel (polished or black sidereal) would be proposed at $500. The Edition model in yellow or pink gold would be between $4,000 to $5,000. No part of the package of Watch (excluding strap, so) can be easily removed to replace the battery or another component. Nothing says that the operation can not be supported in an Apple Store, but what one has, Apple watches might as well be closed for an iPad.

That said, iGen.fr also claims that the Gold Apple Watch et al will ship mid-February, which translate into English means February 14 (aka Valentine’s Day).

Gold Apple Watch: License to Print Money?

A rumor out of France indicates that the Gold Apple Watch, the most desirable version of Tim Cook's first product, will see for at least $4,000…
Of course, that flies in the face of Angela Arendts’ statement that the Apple Watch will ship in the Spring, which starts on March 20, 2015.

We are sprinting a marathon right now, and it’s not going to stop. Right? We’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring.

Why would Arendts “lie”? She probably wouldn’t.

However, February 14 is the Saturday before Chinese New Year, which is an absolutely huge shopping day. While two-thirds of the Chinese people can’t afford one, the other third — roughly 400 million people — can afford an Apple Watch, maybe even the Gold Apple Watch.

Will Apple ship the Apple Watch before or after Chinese New Year?

Inquiring minds want to know…
