Just days after the launch of Apple’s newest device, reports of yellow-tinted screens and reception issues are flooding in from new iPhone 4 owners.

The iPhone 4 features an antenna built in to case of the phone, but the metal bands encircling the device appear to be responsible for reception issues that are frustrating new owners. Gizmodo reports that many users are reporting dramatic drops in reception when they hold the phone by its metal sides, with dozens of YouTube videos confirming the problem.

Furthermore, the much vaunted iPhone “retina display” has been the subject of many complaints with Gizmodo receiving confirmation from 27 owners (and counting) that have found yellow bands and yellow tint defects on the screen.

It appears likely that both issues are hardware problems and could prompt a slew of replacements or even force a recall of the new phone.
