Packing Pro iPhone App Review

Price: $2.99     Score: 10/10     Category: Travel

I’m only 26. That makes me a digital native, albeit one who is young enough to remember using card catalog systems in my elementary school library. But every once in a while, I still manage to find an app that makes me feel a little old.

I have plenty of great travel memories from the days before my iPhone, each of which is paired with pretty wretched memories of the hours I spent packing for said trip. Now that I’ve tried Packing Pro, developed by Quinn Genzel, there’s no way I’d ever go back to lists made with pen and paper (or even basic lists written in the iPhone’s Notes app.)

Whether you’re packing for a holiday weekend, international vacation, or business trip, you need Packing Pro. Even if you only travel once a year, or camp very rarely, trust me, this iPhone app is worth the investment.

For starters, you don’t even need to think about your list. Packing Pro can automatically generate a list of items it thinks you’ll need for your trip, based on the number of people traveling, their ages, the destination, and several other bits of information. That means you don’t have to spend half an hour painstakingly entering the obvious stuff like socks and underwear.

Have an anal-retentive need to color-coordinate your packing lists in an attempt to stay organized? Guess what? You can make all kinds of custom changes, including app-wide themes, layout & font choices, and extensive control over colors and fonts throughout the entire app.

The latest version (Version 8.0) offers full iCloud auto-sync support, which makes it easy to transfer lists between your many multiple devices, or with someone in your family that you share an iCloud account with.

Honestly, I’m never using another iPhone app for packing again. And with Independence Day right around the corner, I’m actually excited to start packing my luggage. The next time I travel, I know I won’t be forgetting a single thing.

Packing Pro is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
