According to MacRumors, Apple is planning to update its retail store app in order to add a self checkout option.

The report, which cites an Apple source, claims consumers will be able to check out and charge in store purchases to their iTunes accounts. Another report said the new functionality would be landing in stores worldwide later this week.

While not exactly the same, Apple recently launched a program in San Francisco that allows customers to order items online and pick them up in store.
