iphone 6s, bendgate, iphone 6s frame, back panel

Remember the Bendgate guy, aka Lou? The one who bent an iPhone 6 Plus with his hands and started the whole Bendgate tempest in teapot? Well, he is back with a new video featuring a purported iPhone 6s back plate.

And, this time around, Lou believes Apple has strengthened the iPhone 6s and, one presumes, the iPhone 6s Plus so that they are no longer susceptible to bending.

Specifically, the back plate for the claimed iPhone 6S measured 138.2mm tall by 67.16mm wide while the current iPhone 6 casing comes in at 138.09mm tall by 66.91mm wide in the video comparison. While not noticeably different at first glance, the slight added dimensions have been rumored as an answer to last year’s bent iPhones’ controversy — 9 to 5 Mac.

The slightly taller, wider, and thicker iPhone 6s back plate that is actually slightly lighter than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Is it enough?

Given that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have delivered stellar sales for Apple, the bendgate “issue” never was all that real. While the iPhone 6s will undoubtedly be stronger, all the bendgate shouting and yelling didn’t amount to much anyway.

Regardless, Lou seems convinced the iPhone 6s is gonna be strong…

What’s your take?
