The Xperia is Sony’s flagship smartphone series. The Z5 is the current phone of the series, and the next Xperia phone is now hotly anticipated. That will be the Xperia Z6, and a number of rumors have been circulated about the upcoming Android handset. These are five notable Z6 rumors.
It Might Have Five Models
Various sites suggest the Xperia Z6 will have five models. They will be the Xperia Z6, Z6 Compact, Z6 Mini, Z6 Plus and Z6 Ultra. Each of these will have alternative display sizes. The Mini model will have a 4-inch display, while the Ultra variant of the phone could have a 6-inch display. It is also rumored that the Mini will have a more limited Snapdragon 620 CPU.
It Will Launch in Quarter One 2016
Some forecast that Sony will unveil the Xperia Z6 in quarter one of 2016. So that will likely be February or March. As the Mobile World Congress is in February, that trade show would probably be the most obvious time to launch the upcoming phone.
The Xperia Z6 Could Have a 25-megapixel Camera
The Z5 had a great 23-megapixel camera, and Sony might raise the bar further with the Z6. A number of sources have suggested that the new phone will boast a 25-megapixel rear camera for quality photos. It has also been speculated that this camera will have 4k video. So it could have one of the best rear cameras. Its front camera could have a 7-megapixel resolution.
A Snapdragon 820 Processor for the Z6
Qualcomm has unveiled its Snapdragon 820 chipset, and rumors suggest that will be the processor for the Xperia Z6. That is probably not surprising given that other phones in the series include Qualcomm chipsets. The 2.2 Ghz 820 has a 64-bit Kyro core and Adreno graphics unit. With the 820 the Z6 will outmatch most other handsets.
The Z6 Might Have 256 GB MicroSD Storage
Another notable Xperia Z6 rumor is that it will have a 256 GB (gigabyte) microSD slot. That will give you a lot of extra storage if needed. Consequently, Sony might launch the handset with about 32 GB of internal storage. At most it will probably have 64 GB of storage.
Those are five notable rumors for the upcoming Xperia Z6. If they are anything to go by, it could be among the most exciting Android phones of 2016. Hopefully Sony will unveil the handset at MWC 2016.
