How do you use your iPad? For work, play, or a little bit of both?  No matter how you use your device, chances are you have a hard time managing all your files. Here’s a handy app that might be just the solution you’ve been looking for: HotDoc for iPad, developed by Telejur Software Solutions.

HotDoc for iPad is an app that advertises itself as both ergonomically and aesthetically pleasing. While it’s definitely the former, your mileage may vary when it comes to the latter point. While it has robust functionality, I personally felt the overall design could have been a bit cleaner, sleeker, and less cluttered. The swipe controls, however, leave nothing to be desired.

But it’s hard to quibble about the design of HotDoc for iPad. It works well, and there are so many features to enjoy.  You can easily import of files from email, Dropbox, or the built-in WebDAV server. You can also easily archive your email attachments, and create PDF versions of email texts that you want to save in an archive for later, easier viewing.

In addition to those handy features, HotDoc for iPad lets you open documents from other apps, which is really handy.

What I found really impressive was the massive user manual. It’s about 60 pages long, and tells you everything you need to know about using HotDocs for iPad.

If you’re the type of person who likes to read manuals before using a new piece of software, this will appeal to you, too. Of course, if you’re a cynic, you might argue that only an app that’s been designed un-intuitively needs a manual that long. I, for one, appreciated the detailed user info.

Bottom line: if you need a clever app to manage all your various files on your iPad, HotDoc is exactly what the doctor ordered.

HotDoc for iPad is compatible with iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this iPad app review.
