It was May 22, 1980 when Japanese company Namco Bandai released Puck-Man. The game caught on like wildfire, but when it spread to America cautious minds realized the “P” might chip off of the gaming units leaving room for an expletive inspiring name. And so they called him Pac-Man.

Google kicked off the party for our beloved pie shaped man a day early by turning the Google logo into an interactive game people can play by pressing the “Insert Coin” button that replaced “I’m feeling lucky.” Insert two coins and Ms. Pac-Man springs to life using the W A S and D keys as a directional pad. Google’s efforts seem to have created almost as much buzz as the I/O conference and now it looks like Pac-Man will roll into his 30th with a Twitter trending topic to his name.
