According to a report from DigiTimes, Apple is intending to move away from current display technology in favor of new IGZO screens on the next-generation iPad 3.

Citing industry sources, the report states that the IGZO panels (indium gallium zinc oxide) will be provided by electronics manufacturer Sharp “in order to upgrade the display resolution of the new tablets to full HD level.”

These aren’t the first rumors of an IGZO display on the iPad 3, with claims emerging earlier this year that Apple’s next iPad would feature a dual-bar lighting system and retina or near-retina level resolution, in addition to a faster processor (presumably A6) and improved front and rear-facing cameras.
