This year, rather than run their own promo, Best Buy is offering some fairly significant Back to School Apple's discounts on the most popular Macs and iPads
Apple is cheap and, even when the company does offer discounts, they’re usually damned thin. However, this year, rather than run their own Back to School offer, Best Buy is offering some fairly significant Back to School Apple’s discounts on the most popular Macs and iPads.

Here is the gist of Best Buy’s Back to School Apple deals. First, these prices are available only to students, teachers and others with an active .edu email address.

Next, these offers — $150 off Macs (even entry-level models) and $50 off iPads — are good only July 12th.

Back to School Apple Prices

— 11″ MacBook Air (1.40GHz/4GB/128GB) for $649.99
— 13″ MacBook Air (1.40GHz/4GB/128GB) for $749.99
— 21.5″ iMac (2.7GHz/8GB/1TB) for $1,048.99.
— 16GB Silver WiFi iPad mini with Retina display for $329.99
— 16GB Space Grey WiFi iPad mini with Retina display for $329.99
— 16GB Space Grey or Silver WiFI iPad Air for $399.99

Why is Best Buy ending its Back to School promotion roughly halfway through the Summer and over a month ahead the actual beginning of school? That is an interesting question.

For example, it would seem fairly safe to assume that Apple could begin its own Back to School program on that date and/or roll new Mac models. That said, Apple has already updated its popular MacBook Air product line. low-cost iMacs have been rumored for months.

Additionally, the company’s entry-level desktop, the Mac mini, is overdue for an update. Lastly, the Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro lines likely won’t be refreshed until the Fall.

So, come July 13, give or take a little, Apple very well could roll new/refreshed iMacs and Mac minis.

What do you of Best Buy’s Back to School Apple deals? Possible new 2014 Macs?
