Samsung Galaxy SIV

Samsung Galaxy S IV

It’s not the first time we’ve heard rumours of an announcement date for the Samsung Galaxy S IV, with the previous rumour in fact touting the announcement for March 13th. However, earlier today, mobile-review‘s Eldar Murtazin suggested on Twitter that March 14th would see a “big announcement” and implied that that announcement will have significant impact on HTC’s sales once again, as seen with the previous Samsung Galaxy S3 release and impact on the HTC One device.

Although the tweet doesn’t specifically state anything about the Samsung Galaxy S IV, SamMobile – a source well known for its Samsung rumours – confirmed that the tweet was referencing the suspected Samsung Galaxy S IV announcement date.

It is suspected that the event will be held in New York, will be on March 14th, 2 weeks after Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, and will feature the following:

The Galaxy S IV is rumoured to feature an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, Mali-T678 (8-Core) GPU, 4.99? SuperAMOLED Full HD Resolution Display, 2GB of RAM, 13 Megapixel Rear facing Camera capable of shooting 1080p Full HD Videos at 30FPS, 2 Megapixel front facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD Videos and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Sources also suspect that the jump from the Galaxy S3 to the S4 will be more significant than that of the S2 to the S3, hopefully enticing users to stick with Samsung in the increasingly crowded mobile smartphone market.

So let the countdown begin, all mark your diaries for March 14th 2013, and sit back in anticipation of the cheesy adverts, anti-apple mockery, and more S’s being appended before random features. sCamera? sVid? sDisplay? Anyone?
