Nokia Lumia 920

With the iPhone 5 successfully launched last week, people looking for their tech fix have to move their sights to new upcoming products. One future release that’s getting some buzz is Nokia’s Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia 920.

The guys over at Yugatech recently received a shiny metal box engraved with the words “Nokia Lumia 920” at their doorstep that got their heart pounding. Here’s what it looked like:

Were these guys lucky enough to get an early unit to review?

Turns out, Nokia trolled them somewhat by sending them some of the pieces that would go into a Nokia Lumia 920:

“So I went ahead and prepared the unboxing table. For good measure I also set the tripod for a video unboxing. Then, a quick peek at the silver box showed me this — it’s like a Lumia 920 shipped in pieces? Should I assemble the unit from parts or what?”

Apparently, the box was a press kit of some sort that didn’t actually contain a Nokia Lumia 920 but key components that they think would make their Windows Phone 8 device stand out. Inside the metal box was a sheet of Gorilla Glass, a large lens, the camera module, and the polycarbonate body; pretty much everything you need to have a Nokia Lumia 920 mock-up display and as Yugatech mentioned, all they’ll need now is “the motherboard and the digitizer and I’m all set to build my own Lumia 920 by hand.”

According to reports, the Nokia Lumia 920 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 1280×768. Under its gorilla glass screen and the polycarbonate shell is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 dual-core processor with an Adreno 225 graphics processor. Its ram will clock in at 1024 MB and will have onboard storage of 32 GB for all your files and media. For photo enthusiasts, you’ll have a more than generous 8.7 MP camera.

The Nokia Lumia 920 is expected to be released in October 21.
