This high-energy endless runner leaves the ground behind and takes place in the friendly skies. The game sets you up to make the longest continuous flight down an aerial track that’s packed with power-ups and obstacles.
The graphics here are stunning, and the character designs in particular are to be commended for having tons of verve and personality. The music is pitch-perfect, and the visuals and audio combine to make a game that’s frenetic and addictive.
You play as a pilot on the Buzz Tech Team. Your rivals are The Pirate Crew, who will do anything to stop you. There are tons of different pilots and planes for you to unlock, which gives this exciting game a ton of replay value. The various pilots have their own unique abilities, such as score boosts or increased weapons range.
The controls in Sky Boom Boom are super simple, allowing you to focus on steering yourself into power-ups and away from bombs. The intuitive control system makes the gameplay experience feel incredibly immersive.
While I did experience a couple of lags and one wonky error message when I tried to recruit a new pilot, the game was otherwise free of annoying bugs.
The pilot’s lounge area lets you connect to Facebook, review missions, and review your in-game stats. Sky Boom Boom even tracks your total miles flown and number of defeated enemies.
It’s been a long time since I encountered an iOS game that was this carefree, light-hearted, and just plain fun. For fans of aviation and endless runners alike, this game’s a knock-out!
