It’s official. Following a multitude of rumors and leaks, Skype Vice President Rick Osterloh confirmed that they are developing a Skype application for both the iPad and iPad 2.

The highly anticipated app will borrow most of the features found in its desktop counterpart, including support for video chat. The only thing missing? Skype’s file sharing feature is out because of Apple’s file system.

The Skype Vice President wasn’t ready to divulge a date but rumors have pegged it as early as June 28th.

Osterloh went on to note that Apple was no hindrance during their development of the iPad app despite it directly rivaling Apple’s Facetime.
