While trying to cure MMO addiction in a group of gamers, a futuristic company accidentally unleashes the zombie apocalypse. The story unfolds through both gameplay and comic style cutscenes. You play as Red, who worked at the company before the accident.
There’s some decent music (even if it does loop a bit too often), and good graphics, but the real draw here is the gameplay. I review a ton of games every month, and I’m the first to admit that the sheer volume and variety makes me a little jaded. So I was totally surprised by how quickly I got sucked into ZomNomNom Free. I played it for far longer than most games I review, and I enjoyed it far more. It’s a really addictive little game!
One touch that I love is the sheer number of goofy modes you can unlock with enough saved coins. These include big head mode (where the zombies are easier to kill because of their oversized skulls) and the high-speed hyper mode.
There are also plenty of weapons you can collect in order to improve your odds against the zombie horde. There are multiple handguns, shotguns, and melee weapons to save up for, all of which you’ll need in order to ensure that you won’t be eaten alive and turned into one of the undead.
If you love shooters, tower defense games, zombies, or addictive mobile games, ZomNomNom Free is an outstanding title. Expect great things from High Tale Studio in the coming years. This is a great freshman effort.
ZomNomNom Freeis compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
