Flashout 2 is the sequel to the anti-gravity racer FLASHOUT 3D. In this racer, you can soup up your ride with rockets, guns, and other upgrades like shields or nitro.
I was skeptical of this game at first. Some of the user reviews on the App Store have been pretty brutal. But surprisingly, this game was a ton of fun. The controls are perfectly calibrated and nicely responsive on our test device of choice, an iPhone 5s. The frame rate was more than acceptable, and I liked the “cracked windscreen” effect that occurred when my ride got beat up.
Whether you’re more into single-player games or want to take advantage of Flashout’s Online Multiplayer Mode, there’s gameplay here that will cater to your needs. Additional games modes include Destruction, Elimination and Versus!
This game is available in Full Retina, and also offers Apple TV and TV Out support. This makes this game fun on mobile, but even more fun when played in your living room.
Boasting console-quality graphics and pleasantly retro-futuristic sound design, Version 1.2 of Flashout 2 also fixes a number of crash bugs and improves your cash payouts after each race, making the game more enjoyable. Overall, this game is worth trying out.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to high-quality graphics this game is not recommended for the iPhone 4. The game is not compatible with the iPod touch 4th generation.
