Despite what you may have heard, print isn’t dead. But ebooks do have a major advantage over their static, paperback forebears: ebooks are constantly evolving.

On the glorious screen of your iPad, you can read plain text books. But far more engaging are the interactive offerings with touchable, moving elements or even embedded video clips.

Naive Girls, written by Luigi Savagnone, is rich with lush photography and engaging videos.

The story of Naive Girls is pretty straightforward: two girls of Italian heritage grow up in Borneo. Despite being very happy there, they decide to travel to Italy. Their transition to life in Europe highlights their personal stories of change, growth, and self-discovery.

But once they arrive in Italy, they face serious culture shock. Despite the transition, they are able to enjoy some of Italy’s most beautiful landmarks. Pictured in the book, these landmarks include the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Vatican City, Florence, and the Piazza San Marco in Venice.

Visually, the book is stunning. The photographs are amazing, and the videos add a lot of texture (though it would be nice if the videos played in both full-screen and thumbnail sizes, allowing the reader to have the texture of the video infuse their reading experience instead of bringing it to a grinding halt.)

Recently updated, Naive Girls has been completely reworked to improve the Italian-to-English translation. Naive Girls now features a more natural flow for the native English speaker, and greatly enhances the overall experience of the book.

If you’re looking for some great eye candy and a good story, Naive Girls is definitely worth checking out.

Requirements: Naive Girls is available for download on your iPad with iBooks 2 or on your computer with iTunes. To read this book, you must be using an iPad with iBooks 2. iOS 5 is required.
