Sony have just posted a huge 30 page FAQ for the Playstation 4 to the Playstation Blog explaining some details that haven’t been made quite as clear as the company had hoped.
It seems the Playstation 4 will not be able to stream media from your home network, unlike the PS3 which did a pretty good job at it. In addition, Sony hasn’t enabled the PS4 to play MP3s or CDs and the only way of getting background music to play whilst playing a game is through Sony’s own Music Unlimited Service.
PlayStation’s Head of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida took to Twitter to address concerns users (including myself) had after learning this news.

So it seems that the team who can change this are listening, but whether that translates into an actual change in functionality for the Playstation 4 remains to be seen.
Continuing with the FAQ, you’ll also be able to output all game audio through the DualShock 4’s 3.5mm headset jack. However, this feature won’t be available to all USB headsets until after the V1.5 Day One patch.
Sony have said that it will keep adding to the monumental FAQ for the Playstation 4 as we rapidly approach launch date, promising to clarify any further confusion users have with the next-gen consoles capability or features.
I just hope they fix the lack of media streaming functionality, or I will most certainly not be purchasing a Playstation 4, however much it depresses me to say that.
