Samsung SmartWatch

If you weren’t paying attention, you could be forgiven for thinking that the tech news these days is being made up by sci-fi writers rather than journalists. You probably already own a phone ten times more powerful than anything you’d find on an episode of Star Trek, and things are showing no sign of slowing down.

Samsung SmartWatch

The newest bit of kit that manufacturers want you to make a part of your life is the ‘Watch Smart, a companion device for your tablet or mobile phone. Samsung are looking like they’ll be the first to bring out a version of this gadget, but other companies have expressed an interest in following suit. Working like a more updated version of a Bluetooth headset, you’ll be able to make and receive calls without ever having to touch your phone. It’ll also discreetly notify you of any activity on your device, be it a text message, Facebook update or a successful eBay purchase, and you can even use it to take photos. James Bond eat your heart out.

Samsung are the first to admit that it’s not for everyone, but for those who love to be connected all the time, it’s the perfect way of keeping up to date without having to unlock your phone every time a new notification pops in. It’s also useful in situations where getting your phone out is taboo, such as in a meeting, a job interview or a really dull visit to the in laws.

A crucial question when it comes to any accessory is does it look any good? The model that Samsung are showing off right now is functional, with customisation coming mostly in the form of coloured straps. That said, it’s hard to imagine there won’t be smaller, sleeker models for the more fashion-conscious tech addicts among you, particularly as other companies such as Apple weigh in with their own take on the concept.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on this shiny new tech, get prepared by finding a Samsung galaxy  to connect with your future smart watch.
